Teachers use Knowledgehook's new EQAO Benchmark tool to better prepare their students for EQAO.
By using provincial data from prior EQAO exams, Knowledgehook's EQAO Benchmark tool helps teachers easily identify the types of questions and areas that need special attention. By running our specially-made
EQAO GameShows, teachers can measure how their own class is performing against provincial averages and be able to take action while there is still time.
Getting Started
(1) Sign Up for a Knowledgehook teacher account and create a class (Free or ClassOS Pro).
(2) Make sure you are in an EQAO grade year (3,6 or 9)
(3) In the "Scroll Menu" below, either click on the EQAO Benchmarking tab or Click on "View All" and then on the EQAO Benchmarking tab.
(4) Select the learning plan
If using a GameShow, you should only pick just a few questions to work on instead of assigning the whole exam. Learn more about how to create custom GameShows or Missions.
Viewing Benchmarks
In addition to seeing the benchmarks live as you play the GameShow, you can view them ahead of time by viewing the GameShow questions. Simply click the View button on the GameShow.
At the top-right corner of each question, you will see the benchmark percentage for the province. Click it to expand.
Open Response Questions
In some of Knowledgehook's Benchmark questions, we include open response items.
Here's how they work:
You can see which items are open response questions by viewing the questions and looking for ones with the blue "show your work" icon on in the upper right corner of the question.
Clicking on the icon will show you what students will be asked to upload once they have answered the first part of the question.
When students are answering the question, the "show your work" question will appear after they answer the initial question.
Students need to either take a picture of their work or submit their work to the teacher on paper. If they take a picture of their work it will appear both at the end of the gameshow question and in the report.
Bonus Feature!
The section labelled "Extra Practice with Benchmarks" are specially designed EQAO-like questions that show the official performance by students across the province on those questions when they wrote EQAO. Click here to learn more.
