Why a live School Dashboard?
The school dashboard supports positive, collaborative discussions between principals and teachers as to how to improve student learning in mathematics. The school dashboard promotes Classroom-Connected Professional Learning - teacher learning is focused on the learning needs of students in the classroom.
Question Proficiency Metrics
This view allows you to see performance data (proficiency and Readiness to Learn) segmented by Math Strands and by grade level.
Dual-Perspective Dashboard
Easily navigate between readiness to learn (diagnostics of prior grades) and Question Proficiency data (current grade level).
Granular Data Analysis
You can click on math strand-level data to see the math topics within that strand. “N/A” means this topic isn’t taught at this grade level. “_” means this topic is taught at this grade level but we don’t have enough data to show. At the school level, this threshold is 10 students per grade.
An additional drop-down allows you to toggle between the math strands to see the topics under each strand without leaving the topic-level dashboard
Clicking on a topic allows you to see the learning goals within that topic.
The dropdown allows you to navigate between the topics under the same strand to see the learning goals within different topics without having to navigate back.
Enhanced Term-Based Filtering
Now through dropdowns, you can filter the data based on the time frame.
Improved User Experience
- Page loads quicker, and data is easier to read
- The dashboard has also been updated to meet accessibility standards including the colors, text, and layout.
- An about section has been added that explains how the data is calculated, what is Readiness to Learn, Proficiency, and what the time frames represent.
Quick Access to Relevant PD
Clicking on the star will mark the learning goal for intervention.
Clicking on the light bulb will immediately open the intervention resources for that topic.
Using the School Dashboard to Facilitate Short Learning Cycles
This system is based on principal-led meetings with teachers across a grade level. This is a three meeting process that lasts approximately 4-6 weeks.
Steps:
1. View the dashboard and pick a focus area (principal and teachers)
2. Pre-assessment (teachers and students)
3. Review teacher support resources (principal and teachers)
4. Provide interventions (teachers and students)
5. Post assessment (teachers and students)
6. Review impact (principal and teachers)
